Becoming a Compassionate &
Caring Christian - Part 2
Sunday, May 1, 2022 Message | Becoming a Compassionate & Caring Chrisitan - Part 2
God is calling you to a deeper level of love, compassion, and caring.
God is calling you to a life of compassion and caring
Compassionate & caring Christians see those around them that are hurting and wounded.
Your neighbor, as defined by Jesus’ parable, is the person that enters your life who is wounded and in need.
Some of the greatest opportunities you have in life to impact people come disguised as interruptions.
Compassionate & caring Christians help when nobody else does.
It is not enough to simply see wounded people. You have to do something. 1 John 3:17-18
1 John 3:17-18 - Whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, but closes his heart of compassion from him, how can the love of God remain in him? 18 My little children, let us love not just in word and speech, but in action and truth.
1 John 3:16 - By this we know the love of God: that He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
When you read the Bible, do you know what you find? God has a habit of using the most unlikely people.
Every person that God uses has two characteristics – they care, and they are willing.
One of the easiest things to do is to find excuses why not to help, why not to care, and why not to get involved.
Religion doesn’t change or affect the way you live, only a relationship with Christ does that.
When God works in my heart, and I decide to compassionately care for people, it is then that I begin to realize that the answer for a wounded heart is me.
1 John 4:20 says, “…for he that loveth not his brother who he has seen, how can he love God who he has not seen?”
When God’s compassion begins to work in your heart, you no longer ask the question, “Who is my neighbor?” You ask, “To who can I be a neighbor?” You ask, “What kind of a neighbor am I?”
